Project Outline
Aurora Tea is inspired by the wonder of natural landscapes in the world. Each tea box borrows inspiration from great biomes such as tundras, rainforests, and deserts.
Project objectives include having a formidable branding identity that leans on strong bold type and abstract visuals.
Research and Analysis
Through research I found inspiration for names through the historical lineage of tea! Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan is a fascinating area and has a beautiful name. They specialize in growing black tea leaves.
Design Process
- Initial concept exploration with hand drawn sketches with box layout
- Presentation preparation with finding suitable mockups, etc.
- Finessed branding direction
Design Solution and Deliverables
With my branding direction, using abstract-ish ways to visualize biomes is a fun and creative way to create consistency in intangibility. This meant I could lean into other main aspects such as strong typography.
After finding a suitable mockup, everything popped into place like a puzzle. The shape of the box meant I only had to create the water that fits the container.
Special Circumstances
I redid my project so I had to cast aside all of my previous plans for the first version of this project. I handled it by completely switching directions as I did not know how much or how little creativity I could utilize. With this new direction, I can bring something into my portfolio I’ll be proud of.
